AS 24, A EUROPEAN DISTRIBUTION NETWORK FOR HVO100 (XTL), A SUSTAINABLE RENEWABLE BIOFUEL
AS 24 supports you in the energy transition and helps you to reduce the impact of HGVs on the environment through biofuels such as hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO100), an immediate solution to the energy transition.
Renewable fuels are one of the transition solutions identified to meet the challenges of climate change. This is why TotalEnergies and AS 24 are investing in the production and sale of sustainable renewable biofuels.
AS 24 supports its customers in their energy transition and helps them to reduce their impact on the environment through the sale of HVO100, which started in Sweden in 2020.
To date, more than 100 stations distribute HVO100 in 13 European countries with strong growth, and sales in Germany, Spain and France started recently following publication of the decree of 26 June 2024. In 2025, AS 24 aims to offer this product in more than 150 stations across Europe.
HVO100 (hydrotreated vegetable oil) is a sustainable fuel of 100% renewable origin that considerably reduces the environmental impact of the road transport sector. As for HVO20, it contains only 20% pure HVO.
This synthetic fuel, which has the same chemical structure as diesel, is made from plant raw materials, residual products, waste and animal fats.
HVO100 can replace the fuel normally used by HGVs without causing the slightest technical problem. The various manufacturers of these vehicles have approved the use of fuels that meet the European standard EN 15940 for their Euro VI vehicles.
It reduces CO2 emissions by up to 90% over the entire life cycle of the product (depending on the origin of the raw materials used in production; reduction measured on a well-to-wheel cycle).
It reduces fine particles by at least 20%.
It reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by an average of 29%.
It is classified as Crit’Air 2 (with the prospect of being upgraded to Crit’Air 1).
ADVANTAGES OF HVO100:
HVO100 is made from renewable raw materials – used vegetable oils, in compliance with the EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED). HVO production is subject to traceability of the various players. Our customers will be able to receive sustainability information documents based on their consumption, indicating in particular the percentage reduction in CO2 emissions.
HVO100 is a renewable fuel that can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90% compared with conventional diesel, helping to reduce the carbon footprint.
HVO100 can be used with most existing diesel engines without modification, enabling fleets to make an easy transition to a cleaner fuel. See the list of compatible vehicles.
HVO100 provides cleaner combustion, reducing emissions of fine particles, NOx and other air pollutants, thus improving air quality.
This fuel has similar characteristics to fossil diesel in terms of performance, offering the same power and energy efficiency without any negative impact on the engine. It can be used to replace fossil diesel, in a blend, or you can alternate between the two fuels.
Unlike other biofuels, HVO100 has excellent long-term stability and can be stored without rapidly deteriorating.
HVO100 exhibits excellent resistance to cold. What's more, depending on the season and the country, it is adapted to withstand local refuelling temperatures.
Using HVO100 helps to comply with strict European emissions regulations, including Euro 6 standards, allowing HGVs to access low emission zones.
This biofuel offers great flexibility of use for transport operators:
