All HGVs with a minimum gross weight of 7.5 tons are subject to tolls based on their trip through highways, service stations, rest stops and on certain federal roads.

As of July 1, 2018, the taxable network extends to all national highways, a total network of 50,000 km of roads. The toll concession was awarded to the German company, Toll Collect.

The amount of the German toll depends on the number of kilometers travelled, the number of axles and the vehicle’s EURO emission category.

The taxable network can be found on the Toll Collect website.

Your AS 24 toll solution in Germany: how does it work?

To meet all your needs, AS24 offers two solutions to pay your tolls in Germany:

The OBU (On Board Unit), an automated system

For those who travel often, the easiest and most comfortable way to pay for tolls is to equip the HGV with an OBU from Toll Collect with a Eurotrafic card. The OBU automatically turns on as soon as the vehicle is started and regularly sends data relating to the trip and characteristics of the vehicle to the Toll Collect computer center. This information is required to bill the tolls. You will receive a toll statement monthly from AS 24.

Getting an OBU is very simple:

  • Contact your AS24 customer service department, who will give you a Eurotrafic card to enter as a mode of payment on the Toll Collect website.
  • Once registered on the Toll Collect website, you can order or remove OBUs depending on what you need.
  • An order confirmation email will be sent to you and you will be able to collect your badges at one of the approved Toll Collect installers.

AS 24 benefits:

  • Get your OBUs with one click.
  • A single supplier for the tolls and fuel in Germany.
  • Transaction details are available in the AS24 customer area.
